An experienced and highly adaptable leader, she handles data models and stakeholder expectations with equal levels of proficiency and panache. A specialist in data science, intelligence analysis, and management consultancy. Sara leverages her 15+ years of SAS experience to bring a breadth and depth of knowledge to Butterfly. Taking unstructured data and extracting meaning and intelligence from it is what she does best.
Wayne Chicken
Director
Director is but one way of describing Wayne Chicken. A computer scientist and data guru with 15+ years Read more of experience in Financial Services, and Credit Risk management, is another. Wayne is motivated by quality, innovation, and optimization, and consequently is a qualified computer scientist, who is technical and analytical, articulate and concise, and highly adaptive. Driven by ethical uses of data, Wayne brings a deep appreciation of data’s power for good in society wherever he works.
Robert Boltman

Qualified as both a computer scientist and as an architect, Rob is responsible for our IT systems and processes as Read more well as helping shape our vision and strategy. An HR director, Rob is our authority on the procedure and operational strategy. Juggling real-world and computer architecture during the week, he is also a keen sailor and photographer at the weekend.

Critically, Rob Is an innovative thinker, always eager to find new solutions and investigate new ways to apply his knowledge to create unique propositions that fully meet the customer’s needs. This thinking has led him to develop a focused and holistic approach to business change, incorporating the people, processes, and organisation in addition to any IT system change.
Lucy Wilson

With a clear appreciation for the technical side of her work, Lucy appreciates where human understanding and data clarity should coexist. Martin Shine

An avid cricket player, ex Ultimate Frisbee player, and board game enthusiast, Martin likes to cover all bases.

Jacob Mackenzie

He joined Butterfly from the Civil Service where he worked in counter-fraud investigations and digital transformation support. A published poet and postgraduate of English Literature, he has an academic interest in posthumanism and the interdisciplinary fields of literature and technology.
Patrick Arthur

Read more A data analyst and military veteran with a history of resource management and a growing specialisation in cloud computing, Patrick embodies professional versatility. Patrick’s favourite piece of historical technology is the original Nintendo Game Boy, when 8-bit processors reigned supreme.
Isobel Taylor
Isobel is a consultant in the design and research of health care products with a PhD in design, specialising in the field of wearable technology in medicine Read more and patient-centred design, experience in graphic design, and extensive research capabilities. Here she provides a multidisciplinary perspective within the team. She brings key domain knowledge and provides an academic edge with her background in conference and paper presentations. Isobel enjoys reading, from the full breadth from fiction to medical journals, and also spends time gardening and drawing.
Rebecca Mumford

Richard Ashton

This range of responsibilities has allowed Richard to develop a deep comprehension of data engineering and consulting within an assortment of contexts. A former chess player for the county of Wiltshire, he always has a data strategy which is several moves ahead of the game.
Thomas Doublein
With a whole host of experience in industrial systems, biomedical engineering, and data science, Thomas brings key specialties in a breadth Read more of development methodologies. Before joining Butterfly, Thomas had worked on some fascinating programming translation projects with an emphasis on the transition towards future-facing open-source software. This passion for looking at the long term and pushing for versatile software solutions is something that is at the heart of how he works. Thomas can often be found sipping on his ‘12 strength’ craft coffee, essentially trying to biologically overclock himself.
Chris Green
Chris comes from the financial services and medical data industries where he specialised in data and business analysis, focussing on automation Read more accessibility. Using a broad skill set from a MSc in Computing, Chris has notable experience automating full ETL processes when working with big data. Chris' vocational history has given him exposure to a diverse set of solutions and skillsets, with particular emphasis on Python, SQL, and Visual Basic. A repository of obscure knowledge, having gained a BA in History, he continues his quest for miscellaneous facts with an enthusiasm for trivia, board gaming, and podcasts.
Khadija Durrani
Khadija is a data scientist by trade, pursuing an MSc in Data Science to serve as a firm academic foundation. Her passion for exploring and assessing data Read more have been particularly stoked by her previous experience working with model production and image classification. Khadija has an approach to data that productively uncovers valuable insights, with an adaptability that allows for the dynamic adoption of whichever techniques and environments are most suitable for the work. A consummate academic, Khadija enjoys reading articles and taking long walks - where she can presumably unwind from the aforementioned journals and essays.
Will Hauwert
Will is a dynamic and skilled SAS professional with substantial knowledge of traditional SAS software and cloud-enabled Viya environments. Read more He has a wealth of industry experience within business intelligence and analytics, with a particular focus on: financial services, retail, and central government. He is passionate about working with organisations to understand their business needs and to enable them to get the most from their SAS technology stack. Outside of work, Will enjoys the great outdoors - where he is frequently found climbing Munros and exploring the Scottish Isles in his campervan.
Shane Prinsloo
Shane comes to Butterfly with an academic background in Mathematics and has taken this statistical and model-based approach to his degree Read more now into the world of data consultancy. His analytic prowess gives Shane a perceptive edge to the insights he provides. Additionally, Shane has wider experience in digital content production, letting him provide assistance in design not just analytics. When he is not working, Shane loves making music and exploring the Welsh countryside - we have yet to see him do both at the same time.
Luke Coldridge
Luke is an adept SAS analyst with a degree in Mathematics, who enjoys gaining valuable insight from data. He carefully developed his SAS skills through Read more building time series models, running statistical tests, and by his work in the financial services industry. His previous experience saw him forecasting mortgage and current account data, as well as stress testing IFRS9 models - impressing upon him the importance of accuracy and resiliency. Luke is a keen learner with a love of music; he plans to learn the saxophone, enjoys gaming, and can often be found walking his dog Maja.
Alex Schoenfelder

Kimberley Green
Kim is an analyst with a notable background in research and development, from her previous work in the design of experiments for Read morematerial properties. Her experience in reporting and presenting findings gives her an intuitive ability to undertake technical work and subsequently engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Kim’s PhD represents the depth of detail-oriented thinking that she brings as well as her commitment to seeing complex work through to completion. When she isn’t undertaking detailed work, Kim can be found playing complex, and funky, saxophone music in her Ska band.
David Dancey
David is our resident data scientist and ‘data wrangler’ (in his own words), having received an MSc in Computing and developed key vocational expertise Read more in statistical models and analysis. He brings with him a focus on data science, development and a diverse range of programming languages. David is a keen innovator and engineer of solutions, with an interest in leveraging cloud solutions to facilitate more effective data quality platforms. A classically trained Latin and Ballroom dancer, David has a studious but passionate approach to both data and the dancefloor.
Yash Yeola
Yash is a recent graduate of a Scientific Computing and Data Analysis Masters, with previous academic study in the inter-related fields of Mathematics and Read more Computing. His academic background has given him a breadth of development opportunities in Python and SQL, amongst other languages and platforms. Specifically, Yash joins us with a focus on data modelling using machine learning techniques, such as deep learning and symbolic regression. When he isn’t developing ML models, Yash is playing both guitar and tabla, displaying what is known as a form of ‘Human Learning Models’.
Giacomo Allen
A consultant with a strong background of data engineering in UK Government, Giacomo holds a whole host of experience in analysis and development, with a Read more particular emphasis on data engineering. This specialism centres on utilising python in the extraction and cleansing of data for loading. Additionally Giacomo has worked on leveraging SQL for reporting and data visualisation, across multiple discrete data sources. A keen practitioner of a variety of engineering techniques, he brings further understanding of data transformation to the team. Elsewhere, Giacomo is a fan of generations of video games, sporting an impressive trove of hardware from old to new.
Jess Wilford
Joining and expanding our outstanding HR and Business Administration team, Jess brings years of administrative experience from a variety of sectors. Read more This multidisciplinary background sets her up excellently to take on business administration work for Butterfly, where flexibility and a dynamic mindset are vital. Jess has a particular eye for detail and she is committed to providing an excellent service, values which she puts to good use in keeping the team and company working as efficiently as possible. Outside of work, Jess enjoys teaching little tots rugby, putting her in a great position to corral the Butterfly team together in team spirit as well.
Maja Strawinska
An excellent addition to the data science camp in Butterfly, Maja has cut her teeth on a breadth of projects surrounding the world of statistical analysis and machine Read more learning models. Her background in forensic science, followed by the study of AI and data science, adds to Maja’s versatility in approaching complex data problems. With this comes an appreciation for diverse perspectives in working where she has a clear vision of development as crucial to the success of a team. As a lover of photography and hiking across the rolling hills of the UK, she has been successful in gaining the prestigious position of director of photography at our next company mountain summit.
Jonathan Murray
Jonny comes to Butterfly to show us the way in all spaces project management and delivery leading. After several years coaching and leadership experience he has come Read more into the data world because he finds, and we’re quoting him here, ‘discovering data-driven insights fascinating.’ Fortunately Jonny came to the right place for that. Extolling the value of the generalist, Jonny works hard to bring teams together, by shared effort and experience, in order to deliver work effectively and to grow as a group. A master strategist by nature, Jonny loves to crack on with a good campaign of risk and hopes to find a worthy opponent on the other side of the table.

With a keen desire to solve societal problems and improve the world around her, Sarah comes into consultancy looking firmly at the bigger picture. Dropping into the smaller picture, Sarah is a crochet enthusiast,a hobby on which she is truly hooked.
Luke Westlake
